A PINT OF GUINNESS
Shockingly, British drink giant Diageo, the makers of Guinness, have been developing a speedier method of dispensing pints. The new technique uses ultrasonic waves to produce the trademark foamy head instantly, and it has Guinness lovers in Ireland utterly horrified. “If you pull a pint for an Irishman in less than a minute, he’ll ask you where the hell you drug that from,” one Dublin pub owner told a CNN reporter.
MIXOLOGY
Take a clean, dry 20-ounce pint glass and hold it under the Guinness spigot at a 45-degree angle. Turn on the spigot until the pint glass is ¾ full. Allow the pint to completely settle-this can take anywhere from one to two minutes-until you top it off. Now take a bar spoon and draw a shamrock in the foam-or use a plastic shamrock cut-out.
THE DRINK TO AVOID IN THIS SITUATION: Green beer. Like its ham and egg counterparts, green beer is better left to children’s fantasy books.
