Stuff Every Man Should Know…11.11.09

In case you missed all of the promotion, the movie 2012 premieres this weekend.  To be honest, I’m a big fan of Independence Day, also directed by Roland Emmerich.  It’s quality fun.  And, at the time, it was pretty crazy to see all of those landmarks blow up on screen.  I’m still not sold on whether or not i will see this new movie.  Chances are I won’t, since I don’t get to the movies as often as I’d like.  But, that won’t prevent me from offering Stuff Every Man Should Know about SURVIVING 2012.

Several believe that severe world-altering events will occur in the year 2012.  This is based on the Mayan Long Count Calendar that supposedly lasts 5,125 years and ends on December 21 or 23, 2012.  The beliefs range from catastrophic apocalyptic events to a physical or spiritual transformation for all human beings.

Being a Roland Emmerich film, the movie obviously plays on the apocalyptic beliefs of 2012.  And, as the marketing campaign asks…How will you survive?  It’s never too early to start planning.  So, we offer the following advice…

When catastrophe hits, there is no doubt that people will fill the streets.  You’ll want to take cover and remember how to survive a riot.

Some of the beliefs center around heightened weather activity–hurricanes and tornadoes.  Lightning will crash and buildings will catch fire.  Be prepared to survive a fire in a high-rise building.

With fires breaking out all over the place, you’ll want to know how to survive an explosion.

We also suggest you avoid air travel.  But, if you must hit the friendly skies, here’s how to survive a plane crash.

While you are saving yourself, stop to help others by removing them from under fallen debris.

Oh…and, in case you are wondering, this is definitely not the first time the end of the world has been predicted.

Sit back, relax and start preparing…or hope that it’s a peaceful spiritual transformation.
