Ordinarily we wouldn’t endorse any alcoholic beverage served in a plastic cup, but we’ll make an exception in the case of this easy-sipping New Orleans classic, which was first whipped up by a bartender at Pat O’Brien’s Bar in the French Quarter sometime in the 1940s. Truth be told, you’d have to be a pretty fey old man to drink this in public, but in the spirit of laissez les bons temps rouler- and because it’s so damn hot down there-we’ll allow it. Besides, if the people of the Big Easy can survive a real hurricane, they’ve earned the chance to drink whatever they like. Two of these on a July day and you’ll be flying into the eye under your own power.
