In an inspiring turn of events, a 50-year-old speech from one Martin Luther King, Jr., has been restored. According to The Guardian, King’s speech at Bethel College in Kansas in 1960, previously been thought to be lost forever, was recently recovered through an unlikely series of events after being stored away by a student who eagerly recorded it as a keepsake.
“I never intend to adjust myself to the evils of segregation and discrimination. I never intend to become adjusted to religious bigotry.” MLK’s words, as fresh and profound as the day he gave the thunderous speech half a century ago, will be played at the college today in memory of the great leader and activist.
