Presentation is everything.
When your family piles into the car for a trip, Mom points and Dad drives. When your family pulls up to the holiday turkey, Mom points and Dad carves. Sharpen your knife, take your time, and follow these simple instructions. Then enjoy your moment in the spotlight!
1. Make sure that your turkey is thoroughly done. Loose meat around the thigh should actually fall off when it’s wiggled.
2. Choose a sharp, thin-bladed knife, with or without serrations.
3. Use your knife to separate the loose thighbones from the body, then remove both thighs and drumsticks. Trim the excess skin for an attractive presentation, and place dark meat on a platter.
4. Insert your knife into the turkey’s side, and separate each wing from the body. Trim the wings, and add them to the serving platter.
5. Cutting parallel to the rib cage, take half-inch (1.3-cm) slices from the breast to complete your platter.
6. Bask in the compliments, and enjoy your turkey.
