Before the fleece, static-charged monk robe known as the Snuggie, children in the late 70’s and early 80’s had the Clown Pelt - a morbid festival of acrylic and primary colors.
This holiday season, should you or your dog be the ungrateful recipient of a Snuggie, just be thankful that an itchy, wool, clown skin-suit isn’t what’s keeping you warm.
From The Museum of Kitschy Stitches - the tale of little Jonathan and his clown blanket:
After years of living in dread, little Jonathan’s fear of clowns had finally been assuaged. By hunting and skinning a clown all by himself,
HE WAS NO LONGER AFRAID AND WORE HIS NEW PELT WITH PRIDE.
From now on, things would be different. Maybe next time his parents would take him a little more seriously when he asked for a TV with a screen that was larger than four measly inches.
