On March 3, over 200 bloggers began posting reviews of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls and giving their readers a chance to enter in a contest to win some fantastic Quirk Classics prizes.

Readers: It’s not too late to enter. We’ve extended the contest through March 10, and we’ll be contacting winners on March 11. Go to Quirk Classics for links to some of the reviews and find out how to enter!

Here’s just a small sampling of some of the blog reviews, with choice quotes of course:

Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom - “This book has it all: young women growing into their own, nunchuck, ill-fated romance and ZOMBIES!”

Seattle Geekly - “I loved its unique humor and frivolity while still keeping to the temperament of Jane Austen’s characters.”

The Running Bowline - “It also, I think, succeeds in fulfilling Quirk’s stated goal of mashing-up a classic story with “new scenes of horrific creatures and gruesome action.”  The bottom line, though, is that it was just fun to read, and I hope this odd-ball publishing house takes this book as its model for future works.”

The Zed Word - “If you liked all of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies but are looking for more humour and zombie slaying, then you’ll devour Dawn of the Dreadfuls ike a zombie at a brain trust.” - The Zed Word

Book Rat - “The best compliment I can give Hockensmith is that there were times, in the midst of the ridiculous Regency zombieness, that it felt like Jane Austen could have written it.”

Cool Stuff for Nerdy People - V2.0 - [Note: Spoiler Alert!! - This review is more than just that; it's a veritable dissertation on Steve Hockensmith (this blogger knows him personally) and the nuances of fine zombie literature.] “This book does a great job at slowly developing a sense of dread, which is of course another hallmark of zombie literature.”

Mr. Zissman - “Think of this book as sort of EPISODE I to Pride and Prejudice’s New Hope, as it sets up locations and characters in the first book. Except Dawn of the Dreadfuls doesn’t suck and instead offers the same blood-soaked dry humor we’ve come to know and love.”
