Very few Austen scholars have realized that when the Brit-pop band The Zombies sang the haunting ”She’s Not There” in 1965, they were, in fact, singing about Jane Austen.

In return, Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith penned the ultraviolent regency romance Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The Zombies were soon overshadowed by The Beatles. But driven by the insatiable hunger of the undead, they are still touring.
